About Market Meter

"Is now the opportunity or the risk?"
Seize the opportunity when others are fearful.

Service Introduction

Market Meter is a service that finds quality stocks and ETFs in the US stock market that have dropped significantly from their 52-week highs in real-time.

We help investors grasp market trends at a glance and discover potential investment opportunities.

Key Features

Algorithm & Methodology

Drawdown Calculation Formula

The core metric of Market Meter, Drawdown, is calculated using the following formula:

Drawdown(%) = (Current Price - 52-Week High) ÷ 52-Week High × 100

For example, if the 52-week high is $100 and the current price is $80, the Drawdown is -20%. This means the stock has dropped 20% from its peak.

Data Collection & Processing

Normalization

Within each category, the largest drawdown is set to 100%, and other stocks are displayed proportionally in a progress bar. This facilitates relative comparison within categories.

Investment Strategy Guide

Mean Reversion Theory

Market Meter is based on the "Mean Reversion" theory. According to this theory, stock prices tend to revert to their average value over time. Therefore, quality stocks that have dropped significantly from their 52-week highs may offer potential rebound opportunities.

Important Considerations

A large drawdown doesn't always mean a buying opportunity. The decline may be due to structural issues such as deteriorating fundamentals or industry changes, so additional analysis is required.
